Attracting New Business
In addition to providing support to businesses that are already here, our Business Services Group leverages the strengths of Lakeshore companies to attract new companies to the area. This strategy of attraction and retention adds to the depth of our highly efficient industry clusters.
West Michigan: Michigan's SmartCoast
West Michigan is home to a variety of highly efficient industry clusters, including furniture, automotive, food processing and, most recently, an advanced energy storage cluster known as Michigan’s SmartCoast. SmartCoast is a collaborative effort that will build upon new lithium ion battery manufacturing investment. Already there’s been an influx of businesses forming a growing supply base, and a surge in education and training programs to support this developing industry. We are leading the effort to help it grow.
