West Michigan: Michigan's SmartCoast
West Michigan is home to a variety of highly efficient industry clusters, including furniture, automotive, food processing and, most recently, an advanced energy storage cluster known as Michigan’s SmartCoast. SmartCoast is a collaborative effort across the Lakeshore that will build upon the new lithium ion battery manufacturing operations established by LG Chem and Johnson Controls. Already there’s been an influx of businesses into a growing supply base, and a surge in education and training programs to support this exciting new business. We are leading the effort to help it grow.
