The Lakeshore region consists of the Holland, Zeeland and Saugatuck areas located in Ottawa and Allegan counties along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Economic diversification, a highly skilled and dedicated workforce and pro-business attitudes are factors which make the Lakeshore one of the fastest growing regions in the state of Michigan.
The economic base is largely comprised of manufacturing (with approximately 800 firms), agriculture (Michigan's leader in the market value of agricultural products sold), tourism and recreation. With an estimated population of approximately 381,000 and land area of 1,388 square miles, the Lakeshore area is poised for continued, long-term growth and prosperity.
