World Trade Week Business Conference

World Trade Week is a dynamic network of organizations supporting West Michigan region focusing on international trade and business growth in foreign markets.

For the past 29 years West Michigan trade organizations, businesses and other community stakeholders have come together to promote and facilitate the importance of international trade.

Founded by the late Tom Maguire of the U.S. Commercial Service in 1985, World Trade Week in West Michigan was created supporting the annual proclamation issued by the President of the United States declaring a full week each month of May be designated as World Trade Week.

Each year World Trade Week offers an agenda of educational seminars, global business networking events, a WorldQuest trivia competition, and a VIP World Trade Week Reception which recognizes the international trade achievements by practitioners in the field.

Learn the ins and outs of developing a quality internship program!  Employers are invited to attend an Employer Internship Training Session to gain insight, knowledge, and tools required to assist them with developing or enhancing their internship program.

Training sessions will include the updated version of the Employers Internship Toolkit and will cover the five steps for developing a quality internship program.

Pavel Krasutsky, Director of the Chemical Extractives Program, a division of the Center for Applied Research and Technology Development
University of Minnesota Duluth

Pavel Krasutsky is an engineer in chemistry, and has a PhD and doctor of science in organic chemistry. He has more than 30 years of experience in organic chemistry research, which includes the following directions of organic chemistry: mechanisms of organic reactions, organic chemistry of cage structures, synthesis of biologically active compounds, synthesis and technology of insecticides, chemistry of natural products and chemistry of chemical extractives. He has authored 150 papers for publication in national and international chemistry journals and has written 20 patents.

Speaker Series: Denver Lopp

Denver Lopp, Air Transport Institute for Environmental Sustainability (Air TIES), Purdue University, and co-director of Purdue’s Air Transport Institute for Environmental Sustainability (Air TIES), will discuss "Accelerating the Process of Alternative Jet Fuel Development" at the Michigan State University Bioeconomy Institute in Holland, Mich.

Lopp has developed aviation industry partnerships and conducted numerous research projects that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial challenges. Prior to Purdue, Lopp held maintenance managerial positions for Pan American World Airways in New York and managed Pan Am’s Cargo Methods, Standards, and Budget Department.

In addition, Lopp has owned a multi-office commodity trading company, holds an Airframe and Powerplant certificate, is a private pilot, has been a Certificate Member (CM) of the American Association of Airport Executives, and has served on several national aviation organization boards and committees.
