Prepare for the Skilled Trades Training Fund - Hudsonville

In 2014, the state of Michigan introduced a $10 million Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) for companies to provide new and existing employees with training. To date, companies in Ottawa County have received $1.37 million. Training grants ranged from $1,050 to $250,000+.

The STTF program works, and is being reinstated October 1, 2014 for the State's 2015 fiscal year.

This is a competitive, first-in, first-served process. We encourage you to attend an upcoming event on September 9 from 12:00pm-1:00pm at the Hudsonville City Hall to learn how your company can leverage an STTF training grant for your employees.

Two additional STTF meetings will be offered in Ottawa County. See dates, times and registration on our events page.

This is a competitive, first-in, first-served process. We encourage you to attend an upcoming event on September 10 from 12:00pm-1:30pm at the Loutit District Library in Grand Haven to learn how your company can leverage an STTF training grant for your employees.

Two additional STTF meetings will be offered in Ottawa County:

Skilled Trades Training Fund & Elimination of Personal Property Tax - Holland

In 2014, the state of Michigan introduced a     $10 million Skilled Trades Training Fund (STTF) for companies to provide new and existing employees with training. To date, companies in Ottawa County have received $1.37 million. Training grants ranged from $1,050 to $250,000+.

The STTF program works, and is being reinstated October 1, 2014 for the state's 2015 fiscal year.

This is a competitive, first-in, first-served process. We encourage you to attend an upcoming event on September 11 from 10:30am-12:00pm at the MSU Bioeconomy Institute to learn how your company can leverage an STTF training grant for your employees.

Additionally, with the passing of Proposal 1 in August, there are steps companies can take to prepare for the elimination of Michigan's personal property tax. Jim McBryde, vice president and senior advisor with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, will provide specifics for companies looking to plan appropriately.
